11/7/2016 MMM

Hi all,
I read a really good blog post this weekend.  It is short and I hope it will be something you can draw something from to help you as you deal with so much each day.  Please read.  It will take you less than five minutes.  Here is the link.
For this week, I would like for all of us to look at Standard 1 which is Learner Development and one of the four standards we will be evaluated on this month.  The indicators are as follows:

Standard 1: Learner Development

1.1: Creates developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences based on individual students' strengths, interests, and needs (1a, 2e).

  •  Not Effective
  •  Emerging Effective - Minimally Effective
Implements whole-class learning experiences that demonstrate an understanding of learners’ developmental levels.
  •  Effective
    ...and
    - Identifies appropriate developmental levels of individual learners and consistently and appropriately differentiates learning experiences.
    - Incorporates methods of language development into instruction.
  •  Highly Effective
    ...and
    - Supports learners in setting and meeting their own learning goals, aligned to their diverse learning needs.
1.2: Collaborates with families, colleagues, and other professionals to promote student growth and development (1b).

  •  Not Effective
  •  Emerging Effective - Minimally Effective
Interacts with families and colleagues related to learner growth and development.
  •  Effective
    ...and
Collaborates with family members and a full range of colleagues to help meet the unique needs of all learners.
  •  Highly Effective
    ...and
Anticipates the unique needs of each learner and collaborates within and outside the school to address those needs.

To Be Aware Of

  • Here is your evaluation code.  Code 1-3 & A are on full evaluations and B & C are on the choose up to 5 to be observed on.  Here is a link to the evaluation schedule.  Once you have scheduled an evaluation, please schedule with me a pre evaluation meeting no later than the morning of your evaluation.  We will have our first evaluation training in the library Tuesday before school at 8:30 and again after school at 3:45.
  • Here is a link to your duty schedule.  Again, Please be seen! Especially those who are on parking lot/car duty.  You may need to step in the way to make sure cars take turns.  If you have questions, please talk to me about how I do it.
  • Continue to think about what you need to keep and what you need to get rid of as we prepare for our move in about 6 months.  It is coming up fast. Remember, we won't be taking over any file cabinets.  There should be enough drawers for any files you use each year in your new room.  Anything else needs to be purged, scanned to your computer, or taken home.
  • Faculty Mtg this Wednesday.  Bring your computers.

Celebrations
Thanks to Zack  and many dads for the Watch DOGS Kick off.  We will have dads here this week!
Thanks to Ryan for starting out the Principal's Pantry starting this week.
Thanks to all for surviving and having a fun Halloween.
Thanks to Heather for running a great BBBS program every year.  My own son wants to join.
I should have done this last week, but a BIG thanks to Delayne and the committee for putting together a great Fall Social.  The food was great and so was the company.

Great Video of the Week
I've noticed, we haven't been using Edivate very much this year.  It is such a great resource for lesson ideas and personal reflection.  I know you have been focusing on Wonder's, but I think Edivate can be a tool to enhance what we are doing in Wonders and other curricula.  Instead of a youtube video, here is a link to a great STEM activity.

Have an Amazing week!
