MMM 11/28/2016

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback on the assembly two weeks ago.  Any other ideas you think we could do during that time every once in awhile to help our students take more seriously our rules and motto would be great.
School Edufreeze Challenge
Let's have a little fun this week with our students.  Have any of you seen the Mannequin Challenge?  In the education realm, I've heard it called #edufreeze. The video for the week is an example of an "Edufreeze".  Okay, here is the challenge.  Have your class strike a pose.  Then record your class in their freeze using your phone or ipad.  Share that with the faculty.  We take a vote, and that winning class gets some reward provided by me.  If you want to be in the edufreeze video, have someone record for you.  This will not go public unless you arrange for it.  It will be kept between teachers and students here at school.  The real challenge is to freeze in a way that shows the kids doing something they would do in class (reading, math, collaboration, problem solving, group work, etc).  The other challenge is to have the kids reflect on what they did so they see it as something more than just a fun thing.  Let's do it!

For this week, I would like for all of us to look at Standard 3 which is Learning Environments and one of the four standards we will be evaluated on this month.  The indicators are as follows:

To Be Aware Of
  • Here is your evaluation code.  Code 1-3 & A are on full evaluations and B & C are on the choose up to 5 to be observed on.  Here is a link to the evaluation schedule.  Once you have scheduled an evaluation, please schedule with me a pre evaluation meeting no later than the morning of your evaluation.  I've done a few so far and I am so excited about what is happening at our school. To Clarify.  Everyone needs to schedule an observation time.  Even those who are on the B/C schedule.  I still need to come in and observe you with the up to 5 you choose.  Please sign up.  Those on the B/C schedule, if November doesn't work for you, you can choose a time in December and January.
  • Here is a link to your duty schedule.  Again, Please be seen! Especially those who are on parking lot/car duty.  You may need to step in the way to make sure cars take turns.  If you have questions, please talk to me about how I do it.
  • Continue to think about what you need to keep and what you need to get rid of as we prepare for our move in about 6 months.  It is coming up fast. Remember, we won't be taking over any file cabinets.  There should be enough drawers for any files you use each year in your new room.  Anything else needs to be purged, scanned to your computer, or taken home.
  • Since our week is over Tuesday afternoon, please make sure you start the long weekend as soon as possible.  I'm sure many of you have plenty to do to get ready for Thanksgiving.

Celebrations
I've seen many teachers last week and the week before that try to have a student centered learning experience for their students.  Hailey, Lisa, Lisa, Tess, Ryan, Mary, Alyssa, Alyssa, Alysha, Casey, Tambee, Angie, and Delayne; you all did so wonderfully in providing the opportunity for students to teach each other.  You all were facilitators of learning, not just deliverers.  Very exciting to watch. If anyone wants to see good teaching in action, please let me know and we can work out an observation for you.  I can't wait to see what the rest of you have to share.

Great Video of the Week

Have an Amazing week!
