MMM 10/25/2016

Hi all,
Per the suggestion of some teachers yesterday, I thought I would share a information on some of our teaching standards each week.  This doesn't mean this is what I will be looking for in your classrooms this week, it is just something for all of you to think about during the week.  For this week, I would like for all of us to look at Standard 8 which is Reflection and Continuous Growth.  The indicators are as follows:
8.1: Adapts and improves practice based on reflection and new learning (8b, 8c, 8d, 8e).
Applies current professional learning to classroom practice, consistent with its intent.
  •  Yes
  •  No
Acknowledges the impact of bias on own teaching.
  •  Yes
  •  No
Collaborates with supervisor to develop a professional learning plan based on data and the Utah Effective Teaching Standards.
  •  Yes
  •  No
  • Reflection is so important to our practice.  We all need to ask ourselves, "What are we doing currently that is working? What do we need to modify?  What do we need to create? What do we need to completely change? Who can we turn to for support or to get support?"  How often do you reflect and what does that reflection do for you? This isn't theoretical.  It isn't philosophical.  It is practical.  It is what we need to do.  All this for the benefit of our kids.  It is all for them.

To Be Aware Of
  • Here is a link to your duty schedule.  Again, Please be seen! Especially those who are on parking lot/car duty.  You may need to step in the way to make sure cars take turns.  If you have questions, please talk to me about how I do it.
  • Here is your evaluation code.  Code 1-3 & A are on full evaluations and B & C are on the choose up to 5 to be observed on.  I'll be working on pre evaluation interviews this week and evaluation times starting next week.  I will have that ready by the end of the day and I will let you know.
  • Continue to think about what you need to keep and what you need to get rid of as we prepare for our move in about 6 months.  It is coming up fast.

Celebrations
Thanks to Zack for running a great PD for the lower grades.
Thanks to Rashel for the idea of looking at SAGE Data for the upper grade PD.  I feel like we achieved a lot.  Great job to everybody.

Great Video of the Week
We do so much to encourage our kids to look beyond themselves in their achievements.  Thinking of that and what we watched yesterday, I found this video.  Interesting thoughts shared.  What are your thoughts?

Have an Amazing week!
