MMM 10/21/14

The feedback I have received about our professional development yesterday was very positive.  I would like to continue to get some feedback so school leadership can provide the PD that you all need.  Zack and I will be finalizing our MVVGs this week and will pass it all on to you for your approval.  We are all in this together.  Remember, Every Child.  It is part of our Mantra and Mission and our VVGs will support these ideals.  Also, sharing what we learned and what we will do is very important to me.  Will you all comment below what your takeaway was from yesterday and how you will be implementing that into your class and team?  Thanks for a great day and thanks for your feedback and commitment (not being committed Tambee) to all students and dedication to high levels of learning.

To Be Aware of

  • Now that everyone knows what evaluation schedule you are on, I will have a schedule of evaluation times up early this week.  Also, I told you all that I will be evaluating you on standard 4.  It is actually standard 6.  So, those who are being evaluating, pay attention to standards 1-3, 6-7 & 10.
  • I'm leaving this up here for those who still haven't signed up for @remind. Please sign up for both your grade level and faculty.  If you have misplaced the instruction sheets, let me know.  Here is the phone number and code for the faculty reminder:

  • Tuesdays are my #NoOfficeDays.  I will make every effort to stay out of my office so I can spend some good time out in your classrooms and with the kids.  This Tuesday will be crazy with the DRA training with District Curriculum, so I'm not sure how that will work.  Maybe Wednesday.

No Birthdays this week

Celebrations
  • I don't know where Angie's son Jake gets it (maybe from his 7th grade math teacher), but he is amazing on the football field.  Talk to Angie about it.  I know this is the 2nd time I've mentioned Jake, but I love talking about my former students.
  • Thanks to Zack, Casey, Heather, Jackie, and Ryan for their presentations yesterday.  They were wonderful.

Great Video for the Week
Sticking with the PLC theme, here is a great video on that process.

Have a Great Week

  1. Hehehe! No need to be committed yet this week :)
I took away a greater feeling of "Team," with my grade level and with the whole faculty.
I feel rejuvenated to use Mastery Connect. We have already uploaded our pre and post assessments for Flextime grouping. :)

  2. I really enjoyed our meeting yesterday! I was very excited to learn more about mastery connect, and I was glad to have the chance to meet with my team and plan how we want to start using it! I definitely feel more motivated to help my students take ownership of their learning. I loved the idea presented of having each student create their own data folders. Thank you to everyone for making Grovecrest such an awesome place to work! I love any possible chance that I get to learn from your infinite teacher wisdom :)

  3. I really like the tracking charts, and the information given by Jackie and Heather. I appreciated the already made forms that I can tweak. I was doing some, but plan implementing more.

  4. Thank you for good information and motivation! I came away with a desire to help my students know that everything we do is important and that they need to be actively involved in their own learning. I'm excited to use the student data tracking folders and hope my excitement rubs off on my students.

  5. I really want to start looking harder for all of the positives around me. I want to find more positives in every student, and I also want to find more positives in all that my colleagues are doing.

  6. I learned more about Mastery Connect. Thank you Ryan (& Melinda & Tambee). First grade printed, enlarged, and laminated bubble sheets for assessments throughout the year. We also uploaded our first assessment, administered it, and scanned the student bubble sheets. It was incredible how immediate the feedback was on how well the students did! Thank you, Kyle for professional development that is engaging and applicable!
